How did I get here ?
My first VFX Shot - Shot on a 110 Kodak Instamatic camera.
I built the props and assembled the wardrobe.
I built this folding crossbow for a York U 4th year project.
Scratch built helicopter. After taking the picture it fell on the floor, then I rolled over it with my chair.  Time to try something that gets me outside.
Several High School friends and I spent three years on Hierodules, a 15 minute animated film based on Fished Price figures. The school must have liked it a lot since they asked us to stay for another year.
I can draw too.
Award winning 4th year project that was made up entirely of hand painted photographs. I pitty the fool who had to paint those pictures... That's me in the Ice Cream vendor's hat.
I tried my hand at composing music for the symphonic band.  Not enough technology for me.

I'm teaching my daughter photoshop by compositing her toys into pictures of them.
I used to shoot a lot of portraits, and in this experiment I projected a slide onto a Holiday Inn towel and re-photographed it to get the texture.
You have to carry your camera all of the time anad every now and again you get something really pretty.
I carried my cameras constantly, shooting at least a roll a week for more than a decade. Lately I've focused more on photoshop, VFX for photographers.
I am intensly interested in all the arts, from music to drawing and painting but I always found the challange of film's blend of art and technology most satisfying.
As Visual Effects artists we create pretty pictures through time. Success depends on our ability to blend photoreal art, complex technology and a strong musical sense of timing.
Modeling led to animation which lead directly to Visual Effects. As a kid I'd build models and my brother would blow them up. You'd think that would have led to more trouble.
